One
of the highlights of the tour is the nightly BBQ's in the parking lots. But
in Chicago it was a bit more special then other nights and I'll let your
favorite Aussie, Scotty "The Hottie" Nicholson tell you all about it-
It might have been years since The Living End played in a car park – no hang on
a minute it was only six hours before. That is the way the Vans Warped Tour is
as The Living End played on the ground with a vocal PA as their “final”
performance for the Warped Tour ’06. The band played to thank the Warped Tour
and Kevin Lyman and basically just have fun with all of the Warped Tour
personnel, in what turned out to be an epic Trailer Trash Party. The camera’s
flashes clicked from the beginning of the set until the end as The Living End
whaled out some of their favorite tunes from Chuck Berry, The Stray Cats and AC
DC. When lead singer, Chris Cheney called up Herbie from Valient Thorr to sing
with them, the crowd was in for a treat. Chris could have picked any singer from
the Tour because every band was there to watch The Living End, they are
musician’s musicians. I was standing next to James from Against Me and Roger
from Less Than Jake and I can tell you there was a bit of air guitar going on
with them keeping up with the Cheney magic. Chris’ fingers moved along the
strings like a spider running across it’s web – it was awesome. The Living End
leave the Warped Tour to do shows in the US and Canada on their own headlining
tour, so do yourself a favor and check out their website and get along to one of
their shows. If you are not a fan at the start of the show, you will be by the
end, and then find yourself in the record store the next day buying their whole
catalogue. -Scotty Nicholson.
